What was the assignment brief?
I will come up with an idea for an independent piece of graphic
art based on a theme of my choice and produce a proposal for my piece. Then I’ll
need to develop and plan my work. I would then research inspirational graphic,
photographic and Illustrative work and techniques which I could implement into
my own work. Next I will identify the specific audience of my piece and use
primary research to develop your work. Then I will create a piece of graphic
art that reflects my skills, planning and research, which I decided to create 2
one graphic, one photographic. And to finish off I will create a 1000 word
evaluation.
i chose human trafficking because:
I choose this topic to make the public aware that the more
educated you are about human trafficking.
I want for more people to learn about human trafficking and
its form.
I choose this topic because I feel that human trafficking is
a nation wild problem and it needs to be known so that people in the world can
come together and put an end to the crime.
proposal
I had an idea to create two posters of two different medias
one will be digital and the other will be photography which i will be editing
using Photoshop CC 2015
I was researching artists such as Tiffani Amo, Brian Ewing,
Spencer Drate which create a wide range of posters using their skills either photography
and graphics.
they all had a poster that seemed to relate to what my
subject was, which was human trafficking even if they wasn’t fully aimed at
human trafficking they still gave me the idea to use those features for my
final piece. I decided it would be a lot easier if I was to draw my digital
piece first and then scan the final drawing into the computer in which I would
then open up Photoshop and edit my piece and break it up into layers e.g. for
the hair and for the skin this is because it would allow me to edit the layers
i need only and not affect the areas I do not need to and it just makes the
process a lot easier and simpler.
i would then design my own logo so it would be recognized
and people would be aware of this logo and the organization.
survey monkey
Primary research I collected was a survey I created on
survey monkey and the main questions which helped me choose between making a
graphical piece and a photographic piece was “Would a human trafficking poster
be more effective if it was digital or photographic?” and at the time I got
equal results and decided to create a digital and a photographic poster just to
fit both sides because of how equal they are
Then another question I asked was “should It be depressing or
happy and cheerful” and there was a high demand in making it sad and depressing
so I decided to use this and looked at features of these types of posters and
the features I got was: black and white to create a sad colourless image. Then some
had features of an actor crying but I wasn’t able to make my actor cry so in Photoshop
I used the burn tool to create the effect of the actor had been crying which
adds more depressing feels to it. . I then used the smudge tool to make the actors mouth
expressions more in detail by using it on the guy actor and putty and devilish
look on him by smudging the corner of his mouth up creating the scary grin
adding more heartless. And on the girl I did the opposite because I then
smudged downwareds on the corner of her mouth making her more upset looking
creating another more depressing image and mood when you look at my piece.

i looked at posters in this book for extra primary research and found a few and extra artists i was able to find although they wasn't based on human trafficking they was all artists who designed a range of posters for things such as bands and even computer games
